Workaholic Mike Flaherty (Michael J. Fox) is the Deputy Mayor of New York City, serving as Mayor Randall Winston's (Barry Bostwick) key strategist and much-needed handler. Mike runs the city with the help of his oddball staff: anxious and insecure press secretary Paul (Richard Kind); sexist, boorish chief of staff Stuart (Alan Ruck); confident LGBTQIAP+ activist running minority affairs Carter (Michael Boatman); sharp and efficient lovelorn accountant Nikki (Connie Britton); idealistic young speechwriter James (Alexander Chaplin); the mayor's no-nonsense, ambitious secretary Janelle (Victoria Dillard); and fiery Brooklynite assistant to the deputy mayor Stacey (Jennifer Esposito).
